SEND

The mission at All Saints is to strive for excellence in everything we do, to love one another and respect all members of our community, and to use our gifts and talents to the best of our ability so that we succeed on our chosen path.

We make provision for pupils with needs across all areas of SEND:

  • Communication and interaction
  • Cognition and learning
  • Social, emotional and mental health
  • Sensory and /or physical

Our aim is to ensure that all pupils achieve their goals and reach their full potential by accessing the curriculum and wider school opportunities.

SEND Team

Our SEND provision is led by the SENCO, Mrs Platt, supported by the Deputy SENCO, Mrs Tortoiseshell and a team of Teaching Assistants. Together, they work to remove barriers to learning and provide tailored support throughout the school day.

We strive to adapt learning and provide targeted interventions, so pupils make progress and do not fall behind. Support includes:

  • Whole school approach to Adaptive Teaching strategies
  • Additional in-class support
  • Curriculum booster sessions
  • SEMH interventions
  • Access to designated spaces in school
  • Pastoral care and keyworker support

Assessing Needs

At the start of Year 7, we gather key information through our transition programme, working closely with primary schools to ensure a smooth move to secondary education. Our SEND team visits feeder schools to meet pupils and discuss individual needs with primary SENCOs. Initial support is informed by Key Stage 2 SATs and transition data, enabling us to provide targeted interventions from the outset.

We maintain partnerships with parents, carers and professionals through regular engagement opportunities including parents evenings, coffee mornings, review meetings and curriculum information sessions.

All pupils are assessed in line with the school’s assessment policy. Literacy and numeracy skills are tested each term to monitor progress and inform teaching.
